Dr. Kathaleen Reid-Martinez has served as the provost and chief academic officer of Oral Roberts University (ORU) since January 2014. She has more than 25 years of higher education experience, including a strong background in academic leadership, technology acquisition, and online education. Her higher education accomplishments include transforming quality control of academic programs, spearheading rapid enrollment, and leading in the acquisition, application, and integration of technology for the advancement of learning. Most recently, Provost Reid-Martinez has overseen the development of extensive efforts to upgrade and ensure the academic quality of an ORU education. These efforts have included developing and refining of a new academic governance model; an update and revision of General Education programs; a faculty-wide push for advanced technology training including Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality; leading a thorough analysis of ORU undergraduate programs; and guiding the Core Academic Enterprise 2030 Impact Report. Her academic interests and research focus on developing leadership in emerging nations, and the impact and advancement of technologies influencing higher education. Recent presentations in China, Singapore, and Papua New Guinea addressed the need for value-based leadership of governments and businesses that manifests in authentic identity, care for people, and the communities in which they live. The provost has spoken at global and regional training initiatives for leaders in education, business, government, the military, and non-profit sectors in Europe and the Middle East. Her views on leadership, governance, and education arise from her deep commitment to her Christian faith. Dr. Reid-Martinez received her B.A. in English from the University of Maryland, European Division; a M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Denver; and a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the University of Denver. Dr. Reid-Martinez is ordained by the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee.
